PS5 Games on PC: Wait for Steam, Buy a PS5, or Skip?

For a few years, PC players had an easy rule: wait a year or two and Sony's big PS5 games would turn up on Steam. In March, Bloomberg reported that Sony no longer plans to bring its current and future single-player games to PC. Sony hasn't said so publicly. But its latest annual filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission dropped a line about putting first-party games on PC that was there a year earlier.

Meanwhile, some PlayStation games are still on their way to Steam. Kena: Scars of Kosmora was just delayed to 2027, and it's still listed for PC.

Short version. Buy a PS5 (or use the one you have) if you want Sony's own single-player games like Marvel's Wolverine or Ghost of Yōtei. Wait for PC if the game comes from an outside studio and is already announced for PC, like Kena. Buy on Steam now if it's already there. And skip the fan-made ports if you want something supported.

Facts in this post come from the PlayStation Blog, Sony's own press release and game pages, Sony's SEC filings and Steam store listings, plus reporting by Ars Technica and Kotaku on Bloomberg's story, checked on 8 Oct 2026 (SAST). Steam prices change often, so check the store before you buy.

What changed

Here's the reported part first. On 4 Mar 2026, Ars Technica and Kotaku both covered a Bloomberg report saying Sony no longer plans to bring current and future single-player games to PC. According to Bloomberg, PC plans for Ghost of Yōtei and Saros were cancelled. The same reporting says multiplayer games, such as Bungie's Marathon, still come to PC. So do games made by studios Sony doesn't own, with Ars naming Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Kena: Scars of Kosmora. Ars also notes that Bloomberg's sources cautioned the strategy could change again.

Now the part you can check yourself. Sony's annual report on Form 20-F, filed with the SEC on 20 Jun 2025, said Sony "plans to continue its efforts to deploy its first-party titles to multiple platforms such as PC, and to create films and television shows based on PlayStation game IP." The 20-F filed on 18 Jun 2026 has the matching sentence without the PC part: Sony "plans to continue its efforts to create films and television shows based on PlayStation game IP."

That's a wording change, not a policy statement. But together with Bloomberg's report, it's a fair signal that the old "it'll hit Steam eventually" habit doesn't hold for Sony's own single-player games, at least for now.

Still coming to PC

Kena: Scars of Kosmora. Ember Lab wrote on the PlayStation Blog on 1 Oct 2026 that the game now "releases in 2027 on PS5 (physical & digital) and PC (digital)." In February, it was announced for PS5 and PC "this year". The studio says, "Pushing our release into 2027 gives us the ability to really polish the expanded game experience." It's a "character-focused linear adventure," per Ember Lab.

On Steam, the listing shows "Coming soon", with Ember Lab as developer and PlayStation Publishing LLC as publisher. There's no price, and every system requirement reads "TBD". So wishlist it if you like, but there's no date, price or spec sheet to plan around yet.

Multiplayer PlayStation games. Per Bloomberg's reporting, these still come to PC. One example is already on Steam: MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a fighting game from Arc System Works published by PlayStation Publishing LLC, released on Steam on 6 Aug 2026.

Staying on PS5, for now

Marvel's Wolverine. Sony's press release of 15 Sep 2026 says it's "now available worldwide exclusively on PlayStation 5" and was "developed exclusively for PlayStation 5." No PC version has been announced.

Ghost of Yōtei. The official game page answers "Will Ghost of Yōtei be on PC?" with: "Ghost of Yōtei launches exclusively on PlayStation 5 on 2nd October 2025 and also includes support for PlayStation 5 Pro." Notice what that answer doesn't say. It doesn't rule PC out forever. The cancellation is Bloomberg's reporting, not a Sony statement.

Saros. Only the Bloomberg report covers its PC plans. We have nothing official to add.

Already on Steam: what it costs and what to know

These are the US Steam store prices when we checked on 8 Oct 2026 at about 16:00 SAST:

Game and editionSteam US price when checkedNote
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach$69.99 list; $55.99 on sale (20% off)On sale when we checked on 8 October; end date not shown
Death Stranding 2: Digital Deluxe Edition$79.99 list; $63.99 on sale (20% off)On sale when we checked on 8 October

MARVEL Tōkon: Digital Deluxe Edition$84.99No discount
MARVEL Tōkon: Ultimate Edition$99.99No discount
Kena: Scars of KosmoraNo price listed"Coming soon"

Death Stranding 2 was on sale when we checked on 8 October, so don't treat $55.99 as its normal price. Before you buy, look at the minimum spec on its Steam page: Windows 10/11 (version 1909 or newer), an Intel Core i3-10100 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100, 16 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB, and 150 GB of space, SSD required. It launched on PC on 19 Mar 2026, with porting work by Nixxes Software, as the PlayStation Blog noted.

For Tōkon, Steam's notice says "a PlayStation Account and internet connection are required" for online lobbies, ranked and casual matches, player profiles and other online features.

Four rules from PlayStation's own PC games FAQ are worth knowing before you spend:

  • PC and console versions are separate purchases. Sony calls them "different products". Buying one doesn't get you the other.
  • Saves don't carry over. "It is currently not possible to transfer your save data from the PS4 or PS5 version to the PC version," or the other way round.
  • Some games need a PlayStation Network account "to access certain modes or features."
  • DualSense works over a wired connection. Wireless play and DualSense-specific features vary by game.

If you'd rather play these on a handheld PC than buy a console, our Steam Deck OLED vs ROG Ally comparison covers that choice. Check each game's requirements first.

What about fan-made ports like P.T.?

You may have seen one trending this week. On 7 Oct, Destructoid reported a fan-made native PC port of P.T. that runs "from your own PS4 copy". Fan ports like this aren't Sony releases, they rely on your own console copy of the game, and nobody official supports them. If you want a supported purchase, skip them. We're not linking to them.

Buy a PS5, wait, or skip?

Buy a PS5, or play on the one you have, if the games you care about are Sony's in-house single-player releases. Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei are sold as PS5 exclusives today, and Bloomberg reports the Yōtei and Saros PC plans were cancelled. If you're shopping for a console or game codes from marketplace sellers, read our grey import marketplace checklist first.

Wait for PC if the game comes from an outside studio and is already listed for PC. Kena: Scars of Kosmora is the clear example: 2027, digital on PC, no date or price yet. Multiplayer PlayStation games also still reach PC, per Bloomberg's reporting.

Buy on Steam now if it's already there and your PC meets the spec. Death Stranding 2 and Tōkon are the examples here.

Don't double-buy by accident. PS5 and PC copies are separate purchases and saves don't transfer, so pick one platform per game.

Skip the fan ports if you want something supported.

The Joburg reality check

Steam shows prices in your local currency, so check the store in your region before you buy.

The bigger local cost may be the download. Death Stranding 2 asks for 150 GB of space. That's a fibre job, not a capped mobile bundle. Our fibre vs mobile data guide explains why.
